Do I need to invest in 4 liquid funds in order to do STP in 4 different equity schemes

I have 15 Lakhs in Fixed Deposits and I want to do start STP into 4 equity funds. I want to know if I have to open 4 different liquids to transfer into 4 equity funds or I can do it from 1 liquid fund to 4 equity funds?

Thanks for the kind words. Glad that you liked our STP research tool.

STPs can only be done from one fund to the other within the same AMC. For example - if you want to do STP into ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund then you will have to invest in ICICI Liquid Fund. Similarly, if you want to do STP in another fund of ICICI MF, say ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip fund, then you need not open another folio for liquid fund as you already have a folio in ICICI Prudential liquid fund. Just add the amount in that folio and start STP to the second fund.

Now consider an example, you also want to do STP into Birla Sun Life Frontline Equity Fund and DSP BlackRock Micro Cap Fund. In this case, you will have to invest in the liquid funds of the respective AMCs, i.e. Birla Sun Life Cash Fund and DSP BlackRock Liquidity Fund.

Simply speaking, the liquid fund and equity funds should be of the same AMC.

Switch or transfer or STP between schemes of two different AMCs is not allowed.

Hope the above answers your query. Thanks for writing to us.
